Barbara Leverone is a Certified Child’Space Educator. She designed and teaches the Child'Space parent education program for the Sarasota Healthy Start Coalition, integrating Child’Space skills with infant mental health concepts. She offers her classes at Sarasota's Forty Carrots Family Center and First Step's Mothers & Infants program, and teaches at Riverview and North Port Cyesis teen parent programs.
In conjunction with hospital staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Barbara created a program for caregivers of substance-exposed newborns, and received the Healthy Start 2011 Mission Award for her work. She has created continuing education programs for nurses, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, childcare workers and Early Head Start staff, and is a partner in www.childspaceconnections.com.
A Guild Certified Feldenkrais Teacher® since 1994, she is licensed by the State of Florida, and holds a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida, with advanced training and supervision in infant mental health.
Barbara was introduced to the Feldenkrais Method® of Movement Education in the late 1970's, and incorporated the method in a specialized Movement for Actors curriculum for Florida State University’s graduate acting program for ten years.
